Derek Nippard

The League has been informed that the first Chairman of the Sydenhams Football League, 1986 – 89, Derek Nippard has passed away at the age of 87 following a long illness.

Derek, along with Cyril Hurlock and Alf Peckham were the main people who spearheaded the formation of the League.

He was also a Football League Referee who took charge of the 1978 FA Cup Final between Arsenal and Ipswich Town at Wembley Stadium as well as being a member of the Hampshire FA Council, Honorary Life Member of the Bournemouth Hayward League and a Life Vice President of Division One Christchurch.

Derek’s funeral will be held on the 1st August at Bournemouth Crematorium commencing at 2.00pm.
