  • FA Vase review

    Following today’s round of FA Vase matches just one Club, Team Solent go into the hat for the 4th Round draw, last 32, on Monday after a 1-0 victory over Bodmin Town.

    Elsewhere, Bemerton Heath Harlequins lost 3-2 at home to Melksham Town while Blackfield & Langley suffered a 5-0 away defeat at Exmouth Town.

    We have now been informed of Andy’s funeral details:

    Wednesday 30th November 2016

    Service at All Saints Church, Denmead, PO7 6NU starts at 11.30am followed by committal in nearby cemetery.

    Followed at Barnards restaurant (opposite church) from approx. 12.45pm for refreshments and to raise a toast to Andy.

    It is family flowers only so the family are requesting donations to Brain Tumour Research, either by cheque addressed to the charity and sent to the funeral directors (South Downs Funeral Service, The Old Post Office, Hambledon Road, Denmead PO7 6NN) or through a Just Giving page where a personal tribute/message can be left (https://www.justgiving.com/AndrewDine).

  • Andy Dine

    The League has learned this morning of the passing of Andy Dine who was known to most Clubs.

    He was associated with the League for many years as an Assistant Referee then a Referee and still maintained an interest in the League after gaining his promotion.

    The League send their condolences to his family.

    The draw for the 3rd Round of the FA Vase involving Sydenhams Football League Clubs is as follows: TEAM SOLENT v Bodmin Town (South West Peninsular Premier Division), Exmouth Town (South West Peninsular Premier Division) v BLACKFIELD & LANGLEY,  BEMERTON HEATH HARLEQUINS v Melksham Town (Western League Premier Division)

    Ties to be played on Saturday 3rd December 2016 – winning Clubs receive £975, losing Clubs receive £325.

  • FA Vase review

    Three Clubs, one requiring a replay, from the League will be in the hat for the FA Vase 3rd Round draw on Monday.

    Blackfield & Langley, who ended the game with 10 men, defeated fellow Sydenhams League Premier Division Club Portland United at the Weyline Stadium 2-1. Also ending the game with 10 men and winning were Team Solent, 3-1 at Sydenhams Divison One side Shaftesbury. The other team in the draw on Monday is Bemerton Heath Harlequins who face a home replay next week after a 1-1 draw at Cullumpton Rangers.

    Going out of the Competition are Newport (IOW) with a 1-0 loss at Buckland Athletic, Alresford Town were defeated 3-2 at Corinthian, Andover lost 2-1 at Croydon whilst Sydenhams Premier Division leaders Moneyfields, who ended the game with 8 men, lost 4-0 at home to Thatcham Town who also had a man sent off.

    The 2nd Round of the FA Vase was drawn today – ties involving Sydenhams League Clubs are as follows: Croydon (South Counties East League) v ANDOVER TOWN, Corinthian (South Counties East League) v ALRESFORD TOWN, PORTLAND UNITED v BLACKFIELD & LANGLEY, SHAFTESBURY v TEAM SOLENT, MONEYFIELDS v Thatcham Town (Hellenic League), Cullumpton Rangers (South West Peninsular League) v BEMERTON HEATH HARLEQUINS, Buckland Athletic (Western League) v NEWPORT (IOW).
    Ties to be played on Saturday 12th November 2016.
    Winning Club’s to receive £750.
