  • FA Vase review

    20 Clubs represented the Sydenhams Football League in today’s FA Vase 2nd Qualifying Round and by 4.45pm 11 still remained and will be in the draw for the 1st Round proper which takes place at Wembley Stadium on Monday.

    Winning Clubs were AFC Stoneham, Alton, Bemerton Heath Harlequins, Bournemouth, Romsey Town, Alresford Town, Team Solent, Horndean, Portland United, Shaftesbury and Amesbury Town.

    Details of the draw will appear on the website on Monday.

  • FA Cup Review

    The League’s interest in this season’s FA Cup Competition ended today when AFC Portchester were defeated 2-0 by Southern League Premier Division side Merthyr Town and Alresford Town lost 3-1 to Western League Cadbury Heath.

    Winners of the Sydenhams Club of the Month Award for August are Moneyfields in the Premier Division and League newcomers Hamble Club in Division One. Congratulations to both Clubs.

    12 teams progressed to the 2nd Qualifying Round of the FA Vase today, with 2 teams, US Portsmouth and Tadley Calleva playing tomorrow.

    Winning teams today were AFC Stoneham, AFC Portchester, Brockenhurst, Whitchurch United, Cowes Sports, Romsey Town, Christchurch, Alresford Town, Bemerton Heath Harlequins, Horndean, Amesbury Town and Team Solent.

    Congratulations to AFC Portchester who came away from Southern League Bideford with an excellent 2-1 win to reach the 2nd Qualifying Round.

    Also in the hat for Monday’s draw are Alresford Town and Fareham Town who meet again on Tuesday evening at Cams Alders following a 1-1 draw today.

    Exiting the Competition are Hamworthy United, Bemerton Heath Harlequins, Moneyfields, Andover Town and Sholing.

  • FA Cup update

    FA Cup Replays – with Fareham Town beating fellow Sydenhams Football League side Verwood Town 4-0 and Alresford Town defeating Wimborne Town 1-0 after extra time, Alresford Town will now host Fareham Town in the 1st Qualifying Round with the guarantee of one Sydenhams Football League Club in the 2nd Qualifying Round.

    The League will definitely have a minimum of seven sides in the 1st Qualifying Round of the FA Cup.

    AFC Portchester beat Southern League side Mangotsfield United 2-0 and will travel to either Bideford (Southern League South & West) or Bodmin Town (South West Peninsular League) who drew 1-1 today.

    Hamworthy United’s 2-1 win over fellow League side Brockenhurst see’s them travel to the early leaders of the Western League, Brislington.

    Southern League Basingstoke Town will host Bemerton Heath Harlequins who beat Amesbury Town 3-1 whilst Moneyfields, with a 3-0 win away at Whitchurch United will face Southern League Premier Division leaders Chippenham Town away from home.

    Sholing’s 2-1 win away at Bashley earns them a home tie against Isthmian League Premier Division side Havant & Waterlooville.

    Andover Town’s 3-2 win at Combined Counties Spelthorne Sports see’s them host Southern League Central side Farnborough.

    Alresford Town earned a creditable 1-1 draw away at Southern League South & West Wimborne Town whilst Fareham Town and Verwood Town try again on Tuesday following a 2-2 draw at Potterne Park. The winners of both games will meet each other in the next round.
