Premier Division

Blackfield kept up their title challenge with a hard fought 2-1 victory at Bashley. The home side scored the only goal of the first half through Connor Whiteley but goals from James Thomson and Sam Griffin early in the second half for Blackfield settled the game & reduced the deficit at the top of the table with Andover to 12 points with a game in hand. Top scorers on the night were Team Solent playing their first game in the League since December, goals by Hisham Kisimu 2, Silvano Obeng, Jemal Wiseman, Julian Scarlet and Ade Olumuyiwa ensured a comfortable 6-1 win at Brockenhurst.

There were a couple of local derbies played & Horndean left it late with goal by Ash Howes and Harry Jackson in the last 6 minutes to complete a league double over Baffins. Bemerton edged a 7 goal thriller at Amesbury with goals by Rob Matthews, George Plank 2 and Alfie Lightfoot. A double by Connor Millar and one by Jordan Matthews were unable to ease the home side’s relegation worries.

A single goal by Joe Bye was enough to ensure victory for AFC Portchester over the in-form Bournemouth side and the honours were shared at Shaftesbury with Portland. Nick Hewlett scored for the home side and Ryan McKechnie responded in the second half for the visitors.

Division One

Promotion chasing Christchurch were unlucky enough to come up against Totton & Eling keeper, Matt Gregg, who was in inspired form producing a string of top saves. Nathan Gray gave the home side the lead midway through the first half and it was not until the 78th minute that Christchurch equalised through Will Gage. Indrit Elizi’s goal for Romsey ensured all the points from their game at Fawley.

In the other game on the Waterside, Hythe produced their largest margin of victory for the season by trouncing East Cowes 4-0. The goals were shared amongst Dylan Gain, Lewis Danquah, Michael Durdey and Matt Smith. Video highlights of the game will be made available elsewhere on the site.

Southampton Senior Cup

A Lee Wort goal on 36 minutes saw Sholing through to the semi finals of the SSC.
