Team Solent is attached to Solent University in Southampton and is a Charter Standard Club. Having won The Southampton Junior League Division 1 in their first season (2005/06), they added the Hampshire and Southampton Junior ‘A’ Cups to complete the treble. They followed that by winning the Senior Division 1 title in the next campaign and became one of the founder members of the Hampshire Premier League in 2007.

The club won the League Cup at the end of that season and annexed the Southampton Senior Cup a year later. Having won the Hampshire Premier League Cup and the Southampton Senior Cup (both for the second time) they finished in second place in the Hampshire Premier League for the second successive season in 2011 and gained promotion to the Wessex League.

The club won the Southampton Senior Cup again in 2015 and added the Wessex League Division 1 title to gain promotion to the Premier Division. In 2015/6 they finished a creditable 7th in their first season at Step 5 of the National pyramid and won both the Wessex League and Southampton Senior Cups. In 2016/17 the club reached Round 5 (last 16) of the F.A. Vase competition.

The University also compete in midweek in the British Universities and Colleges Sport League (BUCS) with three sides – the first team playing in Western 2A.
