Bashley v Bournemouth 23/10/18

Bashley 2 Bournemouth 3

A dabble into the Bournemouth Senior Cup for the first time this season for me, and it was a good competitive game to choose.
Bashley attacked the Clubhouse End in the first half, but it was the visiting Poppies who were in the ascendancy during the early stages. Jason Collins was forced to make a fine save to deny Mickey Finch inside the first ten minutes- tipping the effort onto the upright.
Shortly before the half hour Steve Flynn came close to breaking the deadlock challenging for a cross with Collins, but the keeper just did enough to keep it goalless.
On 37 minutes again Poppies pressed for an opener, but against the overall run of play former Swanage striker Cameron BEARD was on hand to sweep the ball home for Bashley to give the New Forest side the lead.
That lead however, didn’t last for long as Steve FLYNN got the Poppies back on even terms with a well placed header in a busy penalty area.
HT 1-1
Ten minutes after the resumption, Shiv ROUSHBAIANI picked out Finch who made a long unchallenged run across the park and into the penalty area, before a challenge came in and a corner was the end result. From this the midfielder converted from Finch’s touch at close range to give the visitors a 2-1 lead.
With a shade under a quarter of an hour left, Bashley got back on level terms when Poppies defender Chris Speers somehow manage to divert a pass beyond Sam Jones into his own net to give the hosts an equaliser.
The response was immediate, as within a minute Stepan NERONSKI found himself well place centrally at the edge of the penalty area and volleyed home to give the visitors the lead again.
It was a bit of a frantic end to the game, Zintany drawing a fine stop from Collins and although Bashley substitute White caused some problems the hosts could not get an equaliser, a curling effort three minutes before the end was acrobatically turned round the post by Jones- so Bournemouth advanced to the Semi Final stage.
FT 2-3 (Mike Robins)
