Ringwood Town v Downton 05/02/19

Ringwood Town 0 Downton 3

UNDER somewhat difficult conditions, the game was a well contested affair that would have had a different end result had the hosts converted their numerous chances, the Robins keeper Edmonds- was in good form and the defence held firm to keep a clean sheet.

Flynn Wearden had a decent half chance inside the fifth minute only to drag his shot wide of the mark, Sam Brown and Ben Harris (twice) threatened the visiting goal in the first quarter of an hour. The best chance coming at that time when Lee Vint made the most of Nathan Stott and Ben Smith fluffing their lines to allow the striker a run to the bye-line, but the cross came to nothing.

On 22 minutes, against the run of play Tom MOSELEY sprinted beyond his marker firing low to the right of Cameron Plain to give the Robins the lead. Despite taking the lead it was the hosts who continued to ask questions of the defence Vint again had a good chance to make it all square. HT 0-1

Downton started the second half much as they ended the first, playing some good football on a tricky surface and Plain made a great stop to keep out Matt Steer not long after the re-start. The second goal came on the hour, MOSELEY found himself in space some 30 yards out, was played through by Dan Telfer and made no mistake from around 15 yards out to make it 0-2.

Again Ringwood pressed for a goal with Brown and Vint having chances to get something out of the game, whilst at the other end Moseley was denied a hat trick by a good diving save from Plain. However the striker was not to be denied his and the Robins’ third on the 90th minutes converting a penalty to take the points back up the A338. FT 0-3 (Mike Robins)
